What is this for in an Accord EX 2008?

I found this little grill near the top of the dash in my 2008 Accord EX. Does anyone know what it’s for? I don’t have Bluetooth for calls, so I’m confused.

It’s for a microphone.

A mic? But why? My car doesn’t even have Bluetooth for calls.

Maybe other models came with it, and they just use the same parts across different trims.

Ever heard of different trim levels having different features? Like EX, EX-L, Touring, etc.? Some have more than others.

Well, that’s awkward.

If the car came with the nav system, it would have a mic for hands-free calling. But only on trims like the EX-L or higher-end Acuras. Some people also upgraded the system with factory nav units.

It’s for a PA system so the dealer can remind you when your car payment is due.

Best answer! :joy: Or maybe the salesperson has access to it and laughs every time they hear an owner complain about insurance rates.

The top vent might be for the HomeLink system on the EX-L, but I’m not sure about the bottom one.

I always thought it was the Bluetooth mic for calls or voice commands.

@Blaze
That makes sense. I’ve never had one with Nav, so I wasn’t sure.

Actually, I think HomeLink is only on the V6, not the EX-L. My bad.

It’s definitely a microphone.

That’s where the FBI agent listens in. :eyes:

See those amber lights? Why do the new SIs have blue-white ones instead?

They probably use different bulbs now, maybe LEDs. You’ve got some catching up to do.

LEDs come in amber too, so why did Honda go with white/blue on the new SI?

@Harlem
Didn’t realize you knew about LED options. My bad. I’d guess Honda just made a design choice. You’d need to ask someone at Honda for the exact reason.

The bigger vent is for Active Noise Cancelling (ANC). The smaller one is for the Bluetooth mic, if your car has it.
