That’s it, folks.
Yep this just confirms I’m sticking to having my mechanic do it, he quoted $475 with labor included and I think that’s pretty fair

Starter costs $250-$300. Yup. Keep that mechanic handy.

Yeah, I paid around $400 to my mechanic last year for mine.
The starter for a Porsche Panamera is inside the transmission bell housing. Could’ve been worse.

Exactly why I bought a Fit instead of a Porsche. This reason alone. No other reason.

The starter in a Land Cruiser is in the middle of the engine. You have to remove the entire top.
@Koa
Like a new one? What? The starter on my 100 series cruiser is under the intake manifold. It’s a V8.

You must be a hit at parties if you even get invited to them.
Not sure about the 1st gen, but the 3rd gen is super easy to change. Everything’s easy to get to if you lift the car a little.

@Cory
Geez! I see this and I know I need a new starter, but I’m just like… it’s just a little grinding noise, it’ll be fine .

Mine made that grinding noise in cold weather for about three years until it finally broke in October. When it starts grinding more often in warmer weather, that’s when you know it’s on its last legs.
@Quinn
For now, my 2019 Honda EX only does it in the mornings.
@Cory
Oh, wow.
@Cory
I only had to remove the coolant reservoir.

3rd gen unite.
I’ll probably need to do this within 1-2 years, thanks for the heads up
For the second gen, it’s the same thing, but I think you can go through the bottom of the engine bay, remove the pip filter, and get it that way. A mechanic quoted me $275, plus $25 for gas.
Sounds like someone has never done a valley starter on a V8 engine.
