What's this part in an Accord EX 2008 for?

I’ve got a 2008 Accord EX and there’s this little thing that I can’t figure out what it’s for. Any ideas?

It’s a microphone.

But what’s it for? I don’t even have Bluetooth for calls.

Probably some models came with the microphone and they just reused the same part across different trims.

Not all trims have the same features, you know? Some come with Bluetooth, some don’t. It’s just how it goes.

Uh oh, looks like you might be missing out on a feature.

Yeah, cars from that time that had the navigation system usually used this spot for a microphone for hands-free calling. It’s mostly on EX-Ls and some Acuras.

It’s for the PA system dealerships use to remind you about your car payments.

Best answer yet. I bet the salesperson also listens in when you’re stressed about the insurance costs.

The top vent is for HomeLink, but I don’t know what the bottom one is.

I always thought it was a microphone for Bluetooth or voice commands.

That could be it. I don’t have navigation on mine, so I wouldn’t know for sure.

Wait, HomeLink might only be on the V6, not the EX-L. I can’t quite remember.

It’s definitely a microphone.

It’s the FBI listening in.

Why are the lights amber here, but on the new SI they’re blueish-white?

The SI probably uses LED lights instead of regular ones. You gotta catch up on light tech.

LEDs can be amber, though. I’m just curious why Honda chose blue/white for the SI.

@Rayne
I didn’t know how much you knew about bulbs, sorry. You’d have to ask someone from Honda for a real answer, though.

The bigger vent is for Active Noise Cancelling, and the smaller one would be for the Bluetooth mic, if your car has it.
