This morning, my low tire pressure sensor came on, so I filled all the tires to the recommended air pressure. The light went off after driving for a few minutes. However, later while driving, the TPMS light came on—not the low tire pressure warning, but the actual TPMS light. Does this indicate that the TPMS sensor is failing, or is it just another warning for low tire pressure?
TPMS stands for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. In a Honda Accord, TPMS is a system that monitors the air pressure in the tires. If it detects that the pressure in any of the tires is significantly low, it will alert the driver with a warning light on the dashboard
My TPMS light came on in my Accord recently, and it turned out one tire had a slow leak. Luckily, I was able to get it patched up quickly.
This was what happened to my 2008 Honda Accord EX when I braked forcefully in the cold. When I went to the shop with my seven-year-old tires, they informed me that all of the sensor cables were ripped out. My front two were replaced. After disappearing for a few weeks, it has returned. They advise me to replace the front and rear tires, however I just paid $45 for each front sensor replacement. I believe I’ll just let it go for the time being and inspect the tires myself. In any case, it normally blows up in the summer. It has 252,00 miles on it.
