What do you guys think about the 6th gen Accord? Anyone still like it?

Did anyone actually enjoy the 6th gen Accord (1998-2002)? I know these cars were known for having transmission problems, but after owning mine for about 5 years, I’d say they’re still pretty cool. Got it during my junior year of high school as my first car. What are your thoughts?

I’ve owned a bunch of 6th gen Accords over the years. My last one was super modified with parts I collected for over a decade.

Had setups with turbo F23s, turbo H22s, and stock F23s. My favorite was a naturally aspirated H23 VTEC with a Quaife LSD, a big rear sway bar from Progress, an RSX Wilwood brake kit, and an AEM standalone.

So many great memories with those cars. I met some amazing people in the scene back in the day, but it seems like everyone’s moved on now.

Some of the 4-cylinder transmissions could be a pain too. Maybe not as bad as the V6 failures, but still problematic. I had an ’02 and lost 3rd and 4th gear while driving on the freeway.

V6s are notorious for auto trans failures. The 4-cylinders are generally fine, though. That coupe front bumper conversion is a nice touch!

Not really. Both the 4-cylinder and V6 automatics had their share of issues with the 4-speed transmissions.

Yeah, the 4-cylinder autos weren’t any better. This car and the second-gen Odyssey had awful transmissions back then.

My first car was a V6 coupe. The transmission gave out at 240k miles.

Really wish I had installed a cooler for it.

My first Honda was one of these! I had a champagne gold 4-cylinder, and I absolutely loved it. Super reliable—no matter how cold the winters got here in the Midwest, it started every time.

I just saw one like this in Chicago a few weeks ago! It was a silver sedan, but it had the coupe’s front bumper.

I used to have one, and I liked it. It was comfortable and had a good amount of space, but eventually, the transmission died on me.

Looks great! I still love my 6th gen Accord.
