Hi everyone, For mine, the dealership is requesting $159. I believe I can get it done for less money somewhere else, so I have not paid. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
I went ahead and completed it. They deducted $24 from it, making the total amount $135. I paid $135 for the brake work in addition to getting a complimentary oil change and rotation and my rear tint fixed (both of which were part of a package I purchased when I first bought the car).
I was quite surprised when I showed my Firestone quote to a trusted shop, and they claimed they’d never heard of such a thing. The quote was for $600 for rear drum brake replacement and $140 for a brake flush. The shop owner said, “Sounds like some made-up thing to take your money. The only time you need to flush is when replacing the master cylinder.” This left me feeling confused. I decided to cancel the appointment with Firestone due to the high price, but it concerns me that this seasoned mechanic has never heard of a brake flush.
The price for a brake fluid flush usually falls between $70 and $120, varying based on your vehicle’s make and model as well as the service center’s pricing. Regular maintenance is a wise investment that can prevent costly repairs in the future.
Sounds like you might have gotten lucky with the dealership this time. They might have been trying to clear some space in their service queue by offering a discount. Whatever the reason, good on you for negotiating and getting a good price! Just remember to keep an eye on your brakes and make sure to shop around for service in the future - you might be surprised at the deals you can find!
