I scratched my new car that my parents gave me for college (2023 Honda Accord) and I feel like total crap. Despite popular opinion, I actually really love this car. I want to get it repaired, but I’m worried it’ll be too expensive, and I could get scammed. Any idea on estimates? Thanks in advance!
That’s more than just a scratch! Take it to any body shop for an estimate.
Bro… that’s no scratch.
As others have said, take it to a body shop. From the looks of it, the passenger door and rear quarter panel need replacing. That could easily be $3k. The rear quarter panels on this car are huge.
Also, some advice: your parents will likely appreciate honesty. Apologize for the damage and explain the situation. I’m sure they’ll understand. You’re in college, and money’s tight—offer to pay them back later. Mistakes happen; you’ll learn from it.
Why ‘despite popular opinion’? I would be thrilled to get a car like that! Back in my day, we got PT Cruisers or 15-year-old Chevys if we were lucky.
Tis but a scratch
It won’t be cheap to repair, but don’t beat yourself up. Take it to a reputable body shop for quotes, and if the price seems too high, come back and ask for advice.
That’s more than just a scratch. I had similar damage fixed recently for $300-400, but I don’t live in the U.S., and prices here are about half what they are there.

No way. That’s at least $1k to fix the dents and another $1k to paint.
@Weston
Wow, didn’t know it was that expensive in the U.S. That’s 4x what I paid
You might need to go through insurance for this one. Judging by the image, you’re looking at $2-3k in repairs.
