Saying goodbye to my Prelude…

Such a nice car, it’s heartbreaking to lose it…

I just spent $3500 on her a couple of months ago fixing a bunch of issues. I’m really sad to see her go. I just bought an ‘05 Toyota MR2, and I can only hope it’ll be as fun as the Prelude was.

@Kip
That’s rough, but hey, the MR2 is a cool car! I hope you enjoy it just as much!

@Kip
You should think about doing a K swap on the MR2—keep that Honda spirit alive!

Man, if I wasn’t all the way across the country, I’d buy it from you as-is!

I hope someone local will take her! She’s got so many new parts and deserves a second chance.

What a bummer. You should post it online to see if anyone wants to take it. The body looks pretty good aside from some rock chips.

I put it up on Marketplace, hoping someone will want to fix her up. I’ve already gotten a few offers. It would make me so happy to see her running again someday.

@Kip
Good luck! I really like this generation of the Prelude. If I had space and time, I’d make you an offer myself.

@Kip
I’m sure someone will bring it back to life. These cars are from a golden era of Hondas, and it would be a shame for it to end up scrapped. Fingers crossed it finds a good home.

Rest in peace, little ‘Lude.

That’s so unfortunate. Sorry for your loss.

What happened to it?

A valve dropped, and the engine is toast. I don’t have the time or money to fix it, and my apartment is pressuring me to move it out.

How did that happen? What was the mileage?

@Alden
It had about 230k miles and a bunch of new parts. One day, it started making a horrible noise, and the next thing I knew, the valve had dropped. It won’t even turn on now.

Did you ever adjust the valves?

@Alden
I had the valves adjusted last fall. In August, it started misfiring on all four cylinders. I took it to the best Honda specialist around, and they overhauled everything—valves, timing, plugs, seals. It cost me $3500. It ran great for about six weeks, and then it just gave out.

@Kip
Sounds like that shop might have messed up.
