Is it worth buying a high-mileage 2012 Accord sedan?

It has 150,000 miles and looks great. They want $2,000 for it. The high mileage is a concern, but the car has no rust and comes with a lifetime warranty on the transmission and a one-year warranty on the engine. I’m just worried it might break down because of the miles. Do these Accords have any common problems?

That’s like 50,000 miles for a Honda. Is this car being sold by a Honda dealership?

It’s someone from Facebook, so that’s why I’m a bit cautious, haha.

I wouldn’t trust the “lifetime warranty” if it’s not from Honda; it probably isn’t what they claim.

But like the first commenter said, it’s still low mileage for a Honda. I have an Acura with 295,000 miles, and the engine is still as strong as new.

Make sure to check the CarFax and maintenance history; they can tell you a lot.

Since I work at a dealership, I’d be careful with private sales. The car might look perfect, but there could be problems you don’t know about.

If you’re unsure, take the car to Honda and have them inspect it thoroughly. I used to see many cars come in for multi-point inspections before people bought them privately.

Very true. Wow 295k! Geesh. My Toyota is falling apart at 156k. Lol I’ll see if I can get the vehicle inspected before I buy.

Wait a minute! A 2012 model with only 150,000 miles for $2,000? Where is it? I want to take this stressful choice off your hands and buy it instead, haha!

I’ve got a 2004 accord 2.0 petrol tourer. Just passed 204,000 last week. Drives like new. Just check the service history. If it’s got decent history, go for it.

$2,000 for a 2012? Make sure it’s not a scam first, haha!

Right! I’m going to message the seller and ask if I can see the car. Kelly Blue Book says it’s worth at least $7,000.

150,000 miles isn’t too bad. Just get the valves adjusted, and you can drive it for another 150,000 miles. Expect to spend about $1,000 to $2,000 on random repairs since it’s a 2012. That means you’ll spend around $4,000, which is much cheaper than buying a new car, haha!

I have a 2008 Accord with a K24 engine, and I have 320,216 miles on it. It has the same transmission, and everything still works like it should. I’ve taken it on short road trips over 3 hours from home without any problems.
