I’m a first-time car owner, so please be kind. Recently, my tire pressure warning came on when it got cold. I filled the tires to 45 PSI since the max is 52, but I just learned that the ideal PSI is actually 32 from the door sticker. Should I let some air out? I’ve been driving like this for about 3 weeks. Are my tires ruined?
Check the driver’s door; there’s a sticker with the recommended tire pressure.

Exactly! You have too much air in there. Let some out until you reach the correct PSI from the sticker. Just remember that the pressure should be checked when the tires are cold, which is before driving or after sitting for several hours. And don’t worry, your tires are probably fine after 3 weeks.
Yes, let some air out. Just because it says 52 max doesn’t mean you should fill it that high. Always go by the sticker in the door.
Did anyone else think this was about adding a turbo?

I was thinking 42 PSI would be awesome for a few seconds.

Yeah! A 2025 HRV at 45 PSI? Wow!

Same here! I couldn’t believe it.
Just let some air out to 32 PSI and you’ll be good.
Definitely let some air out. 32 to 35 is fine. Your tires are probably okay.
Just let some air out and everything should be alright. Tires can handle higher pressure without bursting. You didn’t do any real damage in those 3 weeks.
Yes, 45 is too much. Go by the door sticker. Check the pressure when the tires are cold, not right after driving or when it’s hot outside. The pressure readings can change with the seasons.
That’s a bit low…if you’re drifting.

Calm down now.
It depends on the tire load and speed. If you have heavier loads or drive faster, you might need more pressure. But 45 PSI is probably too high, leading to faster tire wear. The door sticker PSI is usually a safe choice.
Go by the door sticker, not just what it looks like.
The maximum PSI a tire can handle is on the sidewall. If it says 44 PSI max, don’t inflate over 42 PSI because it can increase by 2 PSI when hot. The HRV door might say 32 PSI, but some prefer 34 to 37. Different people have different preferences.
Edit: And if the max for your tires is 45 or lower, then yes, 45 PSI is too much. You should see the fine print on the sidewall.
Make sure to follow the sticker on the driver’s door for the cold pressure and set it there. Then reset the TPMS calibration through your infotainment system (if it’s similar to my 2020). The system detects when there’s a difference from the set value before alerting you.
Yikes. You should be okay after 3 weeks. If tires are overinflated, they can bulge and wear down the middle quicker. Underinflation wears the sides. If there was damage, you would’ve noticed it. Just lower the pressure to the correct amount; there’s usually a sticker in your door or fuel filler with the right pressure. No worries.
