Is $15,000 worth it for this car?

That CVT is no good. I babied my 2015 Civic, and the transmission died at 120k. No dipstick either, so when it’s time to change the fluid, it’s off to the dealer.

120k miles? How much did they quote you for a new transmission?

@Delaney
Almost $8k for a used one! No thanks.

When was this? $8k seems super high.

December 2022. Prices are wild.

My 2014 has 195k miles on the original CVT. There was a recall for a TCU update, did you ever get it done?

@Val
I don’t think there was a recall on my 2015 Civic. I bought it with 20k miles and kept it until 100k. I’ve owned multiple Hondas, and this was the only one I didn’t love.

I usually go with the average of KBB and Edmunds and start negotiating from there. But yeah, they’re reliable cars. Change the oil every 5-6k miles, trans fluid every 30k, and air filters yearly. That should get you close to 300k miles.

@Merrick
Yes! The trans fluid change is key (not a flush, though). Not changing it enough is what leads to trouble.

@Merrick
That’s the exact schedule I use :blush:

Love my 2013!

Same! It was the last year they did the 5-speed automatic.

It’s alright for a beater. I get 33mpg around town.

Seems high, but the miles are super low. Check KBB or compare it to similar listings online, then make an offer.

Honda is super reliable, but every car will need maintenance. Prices are high now due to demand, but if you can get them to lower it a bit, it might be worth it. And definitely get a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) to make sure everything’s solid.

I get it, I paid too much for a Honda CR-V recently. The market is a mess right now. Prices aren’t what they used to be. People will say it’s overpriced, but what’s the choice when every car costs $5-7k more than it should?

Bit high for low miles, but the market for used cars is tough right now. Hondas hold their value, though.

At least it doesn’t have the 1.5T! I had to replace the entire fuel system on my 2017 Accord because of a fuel dilution issue. The 1.8L is boring but much more reliable.
