How much is a 2015 Honda Civic with 144k miles worth?

Hello pals,

I don’t have much expertise in cars, but I want to ensure I’m making a wise decision before purchasing this one…

I’m looking at buying a used 2015 Honda Civic LX Sedan 4D with 144,000 miles on it. It’s been well-maintained, looks pristine under the hood, and comes with a clean title.

The seller originally listed it for $9,700, but I negotiated the price down to $8,500.

I’m curious about the actual market value for a car like this if I’m paying in cash. Has anyone had experience with this specific model and mileage? What can I expect in terms of its remaining lifespan with this mileage? And what are the anticipated maintenance costs for the future?

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Unless there is anything truly exceptional about it, that seems rather high. Even while I am not familiar with all the specifics, a cursory glance via KBB puts the worth at roughly 7500. The cost of a used car is dropping quite quickly; if it has just been on the market for a few months, the pricing is certainly outdated. The highest I have had an offer for my 2014 Si, which has 88,000 kilometers, is 12,500. I am going to trade it in. However, make sure to conduct your homework and do not rely solely on what one individual says.

That’s okay for a Civic of that age and mileage. The CVT is the only complaint. Those automobiles were subject to a pulley recall. Check that this has been completed before firing the trigger.

Assuming the recall was completed, you could get at least another 100k miles from it. For the most part, the cars were bulletproof.

If you can find a 2013 Civic instead, that could be preferable because it had the old 5-speed automatic.

Assuming no damage or significant repairs are required, the market worth is approximately $6500. An average private party would cost between $8500 and $10k.
