Get a new bumper cover before you paint it.

Not in California where is this shop that charges 2-3k

I just had my 2009 Civic coupe painted. I got three estimates: $5,000, $3,600 and $2,500. I chose the least expensive and they did a great job. Macco quoted me $1,500 but I didn’t think I would get the right body preparation. I had two shopping cart dings removed by a paintless dent removal shop before the paint job.

@Mai
The MACCO would have been a bad choice unless you planned to resell it right afterwards. They don’t use UV resistance clear just junk that delaminates and ruins the color coat from sunlight

I plan on owning this car forever. With proper maintenance it should last a lifetime. So it is a worthwhile investment.

@Mai
True that

@Mai
Can’t believe I’m hearing someone else say that. Honestly, in today’s throw-away society, that’s rare to hear

I didn’t change the color. It is a respray in the original color Alabaster Silver. The car only has 50,000 miles on it. The interior is immaculate and the door jam paint is perfect.

You might want to consider a wrap instead of paint.

Wrap would last at least 10 years. But if there’s imperfections under the wrap, you’d be able to see them through, and the longevity of the wrap wouldn’t be as long. Would be wise, long term, to invest in a proper repaint. Wrap for a paint job that isn’t terrible.

@Corey
What does a decent wrap cost you?

Fucks sake I hope they kiss me on the neck before they do it.

A good paint job isn’t cheap either. You can pay a lot less with a Maaco special and regret it forever though.

6K in New England should include door jam and dog leg, with a UV clear coat. Cheaper means bad bodywork and weak clear, overspray, no de-nibbing, no polish, no wax. Do not use MACCO, they don’t use UV resistant clear and will delaminate inside 3 years. Bad color match and bubbles of body filler from bad bondo work
