Honda going for cheaper trims on the Prologue to tackle affordability issues?

Honda has decided to focus on more affordable versions of the Prologue to address the ongoing affordability crisis in 2025.

This should be priced between $30k and $40k, not $45k to $60k. The original MSRP was set when EV prices were higher, but that’s changed now. It might be better to just lower the MSRP instead of offering rebates or incentives, ensuring that the savings actually reach consumers instead of being held by dealers.

@Kirin
I agree, my Touring AWD ended up costing $35k after the lease.

I paid $41,700 OTD for an EX FWD with 0% financing for 72 months.

I wasn’t expecting there to be a 2025 model, but with the sales they’ve had, it’s great to see. I might be in the minority, but I’ve loved mine.

I don’t think you’re alone. It’s a great car, and we still don’t know if the axle issues are widespread or just early defects that have been sorted out.

@Kit
A service tech told me the newer models still have the same issue. I hope that’s not the case.

My dealer has only sold a few, and none of them have come back with any issues. Last time I checked, they had sold 6 and none of them had problems.

@Kit
Are you an employee there?

No, I just asked the dealer if they had any returns or issues when I bought the car, and they said no. Called back later and they still hadn’t had any issues. Not a verified data point, but neither are the other reports here.

@Kit
These issues are being acknowledged by service centres. There are hundreds of complaints on NHTSA. What you’re saying is just casual questioning, but they are trying to sell cars.

@Kit
I’m keeping an eye on the axle issue, but so far, no problems. I’ve loved mine so far.

@Kit
My car is in service right now. The dealership agreed to fix the axle, but the part is backordered.

Most people seem to really like their new car.

@Heath
Had mine for four months now.

My EX lease is $9k, and my buyout is $25k. That’s where it should be priced before or without incentives. After $18k in incentives, it still feels overpriced, but it’s the best deal on a great car right now. The Touring and Elite versions had similar residuals but cost $8k to $16k more.

@Chen
I don’t mind if it’s cheaper with incentives or if the price is lower upfront without any. Same deal. Honda Passports are going for $43k-$49k.

It matters for states that base their registration fees on MSRP.

It surprises me that the EX isn’t popular where I live. The Elite seems to be the most popular trim.

We waited for a deal on the Elite trim. The EX didn’t seem worth it to us.
