First 250 Miles on My Hybrid… Anyone Else Trying This?

I’m keeping an eye on how my hybrid is performing so far. I keep hearing people talk about this ‘break-in period.’ Not sure how a battery needs to be ‘broken in,’ but I guess it makes sense not to expect the advertised numbers right away, especially since it’s been pretty cold lately. Also, I don’t know how much the battery was charged when it left the factory or when I drove it off the dealership lot.

Here’s where I’m at so far. About halfway through the first full tank (I think), I’ve driven 252 miles, and it says there are 205 miles left. That’s around 457 miles for the tank total. Does that sound right to anyone else?

Do you really need a subscription for remote start?

I think it’s only for using it through the app. You can still use the key fob without any extra fees.

Wait, so your Civic comes with a built-in SIM? That’s a new one. Looks like just another way for insurance companies to track everything you do.

Meanwhile, my neighbour’s got a 1970s Honda Accord in great shape for sale. Thinking about grabbing it if I can afford it.

No idea why people are downvoting you. This is just the reality we’re living in now.

People don’t want to hear it until it’s too late. Doesn’t bother me, though. I just call it like I see it.

Tech like this is unavoidable, though.

Unavoidable, yes, but we still have some say in how it gets used.

Exactly. People forget that companies don’t make decisions on their own—users do.

Totally agree.

Yeah, you need a subscription for the app, but the key fob works fine without one.

That’s odd. I’ve been using remote start without any subscription. All I do is press the lock button, then press and hold the circular button to start and heat the car. For summer, you can press the unlock button twice and hold the second press to roll down the windows remotely.

@Zen
They’re talking about using the app to remote start. If you want to use your phone for it, you’ll need to pay a monthly or yearly fee. It also gives you GPS tracking, but that’s part of the subscription.

I’m shocked your app works. I’ve got a 2024 Touring, and mine has never worked properly.

You should be glad it doesn’t work. The permissions it asks for are a joke, and their privacy policy isn’t great either.

@Flynn
What’s so bad about it?

You’d have to check it yourself, but I literally said ‘nope’ out loud when I read through it.

Oh, I had no idea the app was that bad. This is my first Honda and my first new car, so I just wanted to try all the features it came with.

How do you see all that info on the app? Mine just says ‘Service.’

It depends on the trim level of your car.
