2013 Honda Accord EX-L v6 automatic transmission repair

I was working on the shift solenoid assembly when a solenoid connector snapped off. Without proper knowledge, I removed the entire assembly and found a small filter from the delivery tubes had fallen into gear. I tried to retrieve it with a magnet, but it’s aluminum and got pushed deeper into the transmission.

My borescope and wire grabber are too thick to reach it, and I can’t see it in the limited space I have. My options are to take it to a shop to remove the transmission and fish out the filter, or find a replacement and hope it doesn’t interfere with the gears. I’m seeking advice from anyone with more experience.

Use compressed air carefully to nudge objects to a more reachable spot. Try a thinner grabber for tight spaces or attach a small hose to a vacuum for better suction. An endoscope with a hook can also help. If all else fails, consider getting professional help to avoid further issues.

It was approximately a year ago that I paid $12,900 for my 2011 L4 coupe 5 speed. If the maintenance history is available, it looks pretty decent. My knowledge of these six cylinders is rather limited.
