1988 Honda Civic Hatchback

Just bought this 1988 Civic hatchback. I got it for $800 with a title, and it doesn’t look like it’ll need much work to get running. I plan to put a lot of effort into restoring it. It has a 4-speed manual transmission and a D15B1 engine.

It looks like you’ve got a lot to do. With projects like this, you often fix one problem only to discover more. But it’s a great find!

How long have those spark plugs been out?

Few hours, needed to check them. The pics are right after the car was dropped off the trailer.

Thanks! I was looking for a long-term project anyway, haha.

Nice! Get a kill switch. In the first week after I got my Honda running, someone tried to hotwire it.

Wow, that’s a complete overhaul! You could get years of use out of this rebuild. Have fun with it!

Aww, it needs some love! I’m really tempted to get a CRX to go with my ED6, but I also want another Honda Fit. I daily drive my ‘91 hatch, and it’s a bit of a money pit, but I like it that way. This one looks like it could be even more of a project, haha. But I’m excited for you!

Won’t need too much work to get running”—famous last words, haha. Just kidding. I hope everything goes well and you get it up and running!

My Honda was like that too. It felt like something was always breaking right after I fixed something else.

I love old Hondas, though, and I still enjoyed fixing it up and having fun with it.

Just make sure to have fun with your project
