Why does my Honda take so long to drop RPMs when it’s cold?

It only takes me 10 minutes to get dressed and start my car.

You should squeeze in breakfast. Make it 15 minutes.

Fair point.

If yours idles at 1100 RPM when cold, that’s not bad. Mine is around 1500 RPM, and I live in a desert. Heat destroys everything in the car, so I’ve got bigger problems than cold starts. Your car’s doing fine.

What even is desert cold?

It’s what we call cold, but it’s really mild compared to most places. Like, we complain about 50°F nights while others are freezing. My Civic struggles even with that though.

If you think your Honda is slow, my iron block 4.6L V8 takes forever to warm up. It’s got almost three times the displacement.

My 2020 Civic Si does the same thing.
