What do you think about this Honda Accord V6?

One of the best cars ever made

No way, the Mitsubishi Samurai is the best. Seriously

It looks great and well-maintained. Just make sure to ask the owner if they disabled the VCM before you buy it. If not, you might end up like me with busted piston rings within two years. It’s a very costly fix.

These cars are surprisingly fast. They can go quicker than you might expect.

This car looks super clean for its age. I miss my 2008 coupe. It was one of the best cars I ever had.

It’s a solid car. If you’re mostly commuting, maybe consider the 4-cylinder version. The V6 has noticeably worse fuel economy.

I can confirm that

250K km isn’t too bad; it’s actually below average for a year. This Accord could probably run another 250K km if you keep it in good shape. Make sure to check if the timing belt was changed at 175K km. If it hasn’t been done, get it done soon. Also, change the ATF in the transmission every 50K km. Don’t forget to disable the VCM to prevent oil buildup. It’s a simple $100 device that you can install in 10 minutes.

I prefer the K24 engine. It has fewer problems, but the V6 is still a great option. It has a lot of power, decent fuel economy, and if you find one with a manual, it’s a fantastic combination of old-school and modern features with a smooth shifting experience.

I own the next-gen Accord coupe with the J-series V6 and a manual transmission. It’s at 270k miles (434k km) now, and the only thing I’ve had to fix is the alternator after the voltage regulator failed at 265k miles. I change the oil regularly and have done the timing/water pump replacement as maintenance. It’s mostly used for commuting long distances. The only issue with the VCM engine is the cylinder shutdown, which can cause premature wear on piston rings and cylinder walls. If you can, get the compression checked before buying it. But overall, the J-series V6 is reliable, and this generation of Accord has many high-mileage examples still running well.

It looks beautiful

250K seems high, but my 2008 V6 just hit 340K  I don’t think it will die unless I neglect it. I’ve had to replace things like the timing belt, alternator, and wheel bearings, but it drives so well. I love this car.

This car is amazing and fast. I kind of wish I got one instead of my 2012 TSX Wagon.

I read the title as ‘How is this AN Accord V6?’ and got a little confused

It’s too bad they never released this in Europe with the 2-litre engine. It would have been a huge success.

Are you sure they didn’t release it in Europe at all? I know they didn’t release it in the UK. But saloons aren’t that popular here.

I had a 2009 V6 automatic. It lasted me until 260K miles, and it would have kept going if it hadn’t been totaled. I never had any issues with the VCM. Now I have a 2017 V6, and still no VCM problems.

Looks good. The price seems fine, but the V6 engine has VCM, and with the mileage, VCM-related issues might show up soon—like oil burning or misfires. You should check the OBD codes and make sure all the emission monitors are ready. A compression test will give you peace of mind.

@Dallas
If it’s a V6 MT with the J35Y2 engine, it probably doesn’t have VCM.
