The Accord Type R is really underrated. I love mine and I’m never selling it. Good luck with the repair! Looking forward to hearing more updates.

Thanks!
I feel the same way. The Accord might’ve been my first car, but I’ve driven a few others too, like a Volvo V40, Audi A3 2.0, Seat, Toyota off-roader, VW transporter, and a Peugeot. They were all good and fun to drive, but none of them compare to the Accord. Plus, there’s almost nothing that can break on it, and I’ve heard the H22A7 engine is pretty bulletproof.
@Beryl
Exactly! This is my second one. I had to sell my first one because of money issues, but I bought my current one in 2017. It was in pretty bad shape, but the engine and gearbox were solid, so I picked it up for next to nothing and have been slowly restoring it since then.
I’ve had an EP3 Civic Type R, a few BMWs, a Cayman S, and I daily a GR86 now, but the ATR has stuck with me. It’s just such a fun car to drive and practical too. Hard to beat as a package.
@Zayne
How do you like the GR86?
I really like it, but it hasn’t quite won me over like the ATR did. The Type R’s from this era really are something special.
One of the engine mounts was slightly bent, but it wasn’t causing any stress on the mounts. Everything stayed in place after loosening, and the engine and transmission weren’t touched. Only the top right side had issues.
We believe in you! This car is definitely worth saving.

For sure, this car is totally worth saving!
Thanks for the update! It’s great to see progress being made!
Just a heads-up: the part number for the right-side LHD Xenon headlight is 33101-S1A-G11, and the OEM is Hella. If anyone has any leads on new old stock, let us know! The RHD version, 33101-S1A-E11, is the one the person who posted this already has as a temporary spare.
@Hale
Thanks for the part numbers, this will definitely make searching faster and more efficient.
I don’t actually have an RHD as a spare, I meant that I’ll be using regular approved LED lamps on both sides until I get a replacement. The donor car is actually a regular LHD Accord, not a Type R. I confirmed with my local Honda dealer that the parts I need are the same.
Sadly, neither Honda Switzerland nor people on multiple forums could tell me that a lot of the parts I need are the same on most of these Accords. So I spent half a year searching for a RHD donor car!
I found the current donor car randomly and decided to ask for the chassis number to compare parts… and it turned out to be exactly what I needed. Pretty lucky, haha.
@Beryl
Ah, I thought it was another ATR, but the donor car is actually black, right?
Doesn’t matter as long as you’ve got something for the body shop to align to.
Did the HID ballast survive? If not, it’s part number 33109-S1A-G11, and it works on both sides. Hope you find the parts you need soon!
@Hale
I think the ballast survived, if so it’s at home with the other broken and intact parts.
The donor car is a grey Accord 2.3L, but I don’t remember the exact model. I initially found a black ATR I wanted to take parts from, but it’s in bad shape. There’s rust, but no holes; I poked it with a screwdriver everywhere. I plan to use the second ATR as a reference because I’m doing all the work myself except measuring the frame. If it needs any adjustments, a body shop will handle that. They’re getting measurements from Honda, so they won’t need the reference car. But I’ll definitely keep it as a backup!
If everything goes well, I plan to work on the second ATR and sell it afterward. If I get that far, I’ll post it here first for people nearby to check out. If no one’s interested, I’ll list it for sale the regular way.
If I end up lowering the price, I’ll do that here first too.
@Hale
I think you had this pic in mind
Top left is the broken one, bottom left is the reference, top right is the donor, and bottom right is my current Audi A3.
The Audi is a great vehicle, I can’t complain, but the Accord was just so much more fun to drive and way less common.
