Tire recommendations for my Civic… what do you all think?

I drive a 2020 Civic Sport (Manual). I’ve been using the stock tires but thinking about switching them out. The current ones are Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S, R18 91W SL VSB HM.

Anyone have recommendations for a better brand or type?

Those tires aren’t great. I switched to Continental DWS06, and they’re way better. They’re quieter, smoother, and handle much better, especially in wet conditions. I was also considering the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4, but the Continentals were available and on sale. They were even cheaper than the Goodyears at full price.

@Lian
Totally agree with this.

I also went with the DWS06 on my Civic. Tire Rack has good reviews on these and others. There are a few solid options in this category.

Same here. After upgrading, I can’t believe Honda picked the Goodyears.

Probably a cost thing. If they save $10 per tire, that’s $40 per car. Multiply that by hundreds of thousands of cars a year, and it’s a huge difference for them.

Do you know what years had the Goodyears? My 2021 came with Continentals.

My 2022 still had the Goodyears.

Interesting. How many miles did yours last? My Continentals went for 37k before I had to change them. They wouldn’t have made it through the winter.

@Lian
How much did they cost?

DWS06 is the way to go. Great value for what you’re getting.

Same here. I’ve been using them on my Si. They cost me around $200–$240 per tire.

If you’re looking for something more budget-friendly, try Yokohama Avids. I’m running Continental Extreme Contact on mine, but Michelin and Bridgestone are great if you enjoy a more spirited drive.

I’ve got the Yokohama Avid Ascends. They’re great, especially for how quiet they are, which was a big deal for me.

Those Goodyears are just bad. Trust me.

Yeah, I know. That’s why I’m asking for recommendations here.

I switched to Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s. They’ve been a great upgrade from the stock Michelin Primacy tires.

I made the same switch on my ILX, and the difference is night and day. Much less road noise and way better traction.

Another vote for Continentals.

I’ve got those Goodyears on my ‘23 and my wife’s ‘22. They’re not the quietest or best, but they last forever. My wife’s set has 75k on them and still has plenty of life left. It’s actually annoying because we want to switch to better tires but can’t justify it yet.
