The most reliable car I’ve ever had… She finally gave up at 362k miles… Time for more power?

She ran like a champ for years, but the end finally came. Gonna miss this one, but it’s time for an upgrade.

Rest easy, old friend

What happened?

Pretty sure the timing chain tensioner was a bad part. It failed way too soon. I had the timing chain replaced at 320k miles, always changed the guides and tensioner too.

@Cal
So just 42k miles later it skipped timing and wrecked the engine?

Yep, tried starting it one morning and boom… bent valves.

That’s fixable! If it’s an i4, rebuilding the head wouldn’t be too hard. Sell it to me and I’ll get it running again.

@Sterling
No way, she’s getting a new heart

At least you weren’t stranded somewhere far from home.

RIP to a real one

What year was it? Did the timing chain job have a warranty?

Did it three years ago. Thought about checking on it, but the shop shut down.

Imagine running a mechanic shop for years just to disappear after one bad timing chain job.

@Crosby
They were barely around for 5 years. They had a big reputation as a ‘performance’ shop at the time. Wonder what killed them off.

Probably timing chains… lol

Swap incoming?

@Spencer

Sounds like they messed up too many jobs and got sued.

I’ve got an ‘08 with 140k miles. My only issue has been the clear coat wearing out.
