Saying goodbye to my car… she kept me safe

She was with me for 10 years. I was the first owner.

These cars really hold up well. A lot of people who crash in a Fit walk away just fine. Glad you’re here to talk about it!

Your car did its job and kept you safe. Hope you’re not too hurt. #Honda4Life

I can barely walk, and bending is impossible… but I’m still here.

Damn… glad you made it through.

That sounds rough. Did you hit something big? Hope you’re doing okay.

I actually dodged an 18-wheeler but couldn’t get back into my lane in time.

She took the hit so you could keep going.

Weird thing is, that same part of the car was hit before.

How fast were you going? The way the front end crumpled really saved you. That damage near the driver’s side pillar looks scary though… if that had failed, this would be a very different conversation.

@Clove
I was going maybe 30 or less when it happened. The other driver? Probably 65 or close to it.

That’s intense.

Rest easy little Fit… you went out protecting your human.

How fast were you going and what did you hit?

Did the side and front airbags deploy? How are you feeling now? I went through a crash recently too. Felt okay at first, but the next day I was sore all over. Took a full week to recover.

One thing I’ll never do again is drive with one hand at 12 o’clock. My right foot also took a hit from slamming the brakes. The firewall held, but the impact still sent all that force into my foot. Be careful out there… drunk drivers are everywhere.

@Clove
I’ve got some serious bruising around my stomach and hips. My arms and chest have small cuts and bruises. Right after the crash, I somehow got out of the car on my own, even though I could barely walk. I saw smoke and panicked, but it was just the airbags. Moving certain ways still sends a sharp pain through my left side. Walking is a bit better now, but bending over is still rough. Getting into a car is a slow and painful process.

@Foster
Oh, and my tailbone won’t stop hurting when I sit.
