Is this a good deal?

Not a bad price, but unless there’s documentation for it, there’s a big maintenance due at 100K miles that hasn’t been done (it gets skipped all the time). New spark plugs, ignition coils, and a valve adjustment. The last part is important since these things have old-school solid lifter valvetrains that needed adjustment. Hence the scheduled service in the owner’s manual. If you have to pay for those at a dealer, it’s not inexpensive.

@Blaine
The dealer in my town would do the labor for 300 bucks, plus the cost of plugs, coils, and a valve cover gasket, which, of course, they would charge outrageous parts prices for, but it would probably be about a grand all in. Independent shops are more affordable. You can watch some videos and read some forum diy guides and do it yourself in 3 hours or so for about 150 bucks if you buy the parts on RockAuto. I’ve done it 3 times on mine. It should be done, and I had problems directly related to not doing it until 120,000 miles, so now I’m anal about doing it every 50,000 miles, but I know a guy that bought a 1st gen with 140,000 miles that now has over 390,000 miles on it and he’s only changed brakes, tires, oil, and tranny fluid. He’s still getting 2400 miles a week in it.

@Harley
I did mine at 136k, roundabout. Mind you this was after buying it at maybe 120k on the clock? I had a base MPG as I bought it to long distance commute from TX. Original untouched everything got me around 35mpg +/- 1, and then the suspension refresh I gave it netted me a consistent 38mpg +/-1 and then after running through the valves and swapping new plugs into it, I’ve been steady driving with 40mpg plus these past trips. Finally to it on a long drive, 8hrs and it was flawless the entire way there and back. This thing is just a sewing machine especially after the valve job.

@Davin
Yep, that’s it just about what happened to me and I had it done at 130k miles too. I knew I was 30K miles over but was very broke at the time and had to save up to have it done.

@Davin
What’s your freeway speed on these long drives?

75mph for the most part. Intermix some random 60 and 50, but easily average right at or over 70 for the entire trip. I got curious one trip and drove 65 for about an hour, saw the dash readout dip into 43mpg, but even I knew that was just prime operation. I’ve been looking for a front lip to see if that will direct air around the car a bit better. It’s marginal gains at this point, and it’s not like I’m going to find some magic setup with ungodly MPG. The fact that this thing is consistent at over 40mpg would be enough for anybody.

@Harley
Recently bought one with 150,000 Mi. Don’t know how diligent they were about the servicing. What problems indicated to you that the servicing hadn’t been done?

Sputters, hesitation, misfires, and going into limp mode.

@Blaine
Thankfully I’ve messed around with the spark plugs and coil packs on my 2010 enough to change them out in a little over an hour, including disassembly and reassembly.

Nice and easy then, you’ll just have to add the valve adjustment to what you’re already familiar with.

I thought the back was spray painted green for a hot sec :skull_and_crossbones:

Me too… And I was kind of digging it NGL.

I was looking at this one online I’m intrigued

I legit thought it was color shifting

Worst background ever. Looks like they’re hiding something

Old car and high mileage. I’d take it if it was around the 6k mark. But if you’re okay with paying 9k for a 100k+, nearly 13 year old car, go for it

I bought mine $1000.

Not a good deal. That’s why it’s been sitting. What’s wrong with your old one? Surely it’d be cheaper to just maintain your 2010 if it’s been good

Blown head gasket and it has historically not been good to me :sweat_smile:
