So I found a 2018 Accord Touring 2.0T at my local dealer. They’re asking $17,950, but it has 111k miles, mostly highway from what I’ve been told. I’m trying to negotiate it down to $15,000. Do you think it’s a good deal for a car like this, or should I keep looking? Any advice would help!
No way, man. That’s way too much. I’d keep looking.
For that mileage, it should be around $12k. They don’t make them like they used to in the 90s or 2000s. Even if it’s highway miles, it’s better if they’re yours from the start.

That might be the book value, but dealers aim to make a profit. You won’t find it for $12k. If you can get it for $15k, that’s a fair deal for a Touring with 111k miles. If it’s been well-maintained, you can probably get another 40k miles before any major repairs. Plus, it’s a great car. Even my LX gets compliments, and this is a Touring model.
These cars last a long time, and the 2.0T is solid, but the price is high. Try offering less.
Dealers usually get these cars for under $10k at auctions or through trade-ins, where they credit even less. It’s probably worth half of what they’re asking.
I always buy through Facebook Marketplace. Sure, you can’t finance easily, but it’s usually cheaper than a dealership, and you can actually negotiate.

I just did a quick search and found a bunch with lower mileage for less money.

You can totally finance a private sale. Just apply for a loan, and they give you a check to pay the seller.
That’s a terrible deal for the mileage.
If it comes with a dealer warranty, it’s worth considering. I traded in my 2018 LX with 149k miles for $9k credit, and the dealer listed it for $15k. If the Touring has a warranty, even $17k is okay. But if it’s an as-is sale, walk away. That usually means there’s a hidden problem that’ll cost you later.
With over 100k miles, I wouldn’t pay more than $8k. You can get a new car for $22k with zero miles.
