Is the 2020 RLX Sport Hybrid Still a Great Car?

I had no idea the RLX was still around in 2020.

That was the last year. Great car.

Make sure you take care of your engine, it could be hard to find a replacement if you have issues.

I’ll do my best to take care of it. I’m a bit worried about the VCM system though, I’ve read some bad things about it. I’ve heard Honda updated it in post-2014 models, so I hope that helps.

@Rory
The VCM Muzzler should fix that issue.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll check it out.

I hear that car is a beast on the road. Would love to test drive one.

It’s definitely a beast. It’s a heavy car, but surprisingly nimble for its weight. The suspension is softer compared to my older TL, but it’s not too floaty. I was surprised by how quickly it accelerates when you give it some gas.

She’s a rocket :sunglasses:

What’s your mpg?

Right now the dash shows 28.9 mpg, and it’s still going up. During the week, I mostly drive on the highway, and on weekends, I do more city driving. The electric motors take over for about 30-40% of city drives. I’ve put about 500 miles on it so far. I also drive very conservatively.

@Rory
Don’t forget to give it some heavy acceleration now and then. It helps keep the injectors and valves healthy and clean.

Good old Italian tune-up, haha. That’s a good suggestion. It should help with the direct injection side effects.

Wow, amazing .

Best Acura taillights in my opinion. They break necks.

How did this compare to the TLX lineup at the time? Like others have said, I didn’t know it was around in 2020 .

Besides the drivetrain differences, the RLX had many of the same features as the 2020 TLX V6 Advance. The RLX had some extras like heated rear seats, auto sunshade in the rear, and the Krell audio system. Unfortunately, they didn’t update the infotainment in the RLX to the newer version, so no CarPlay or dynamic drive modes like in newer Acuras. It also cost about $15k more than the TLX V6 Advance, so the TLX seemed like a better deal at the time.

Amazing, one of the best Acuras ever. What a find.

I’m still wondering why Acura stopped making hybrids. Honda, their parent company, still uses them. They killed off the RLX Hybrid, MDX Hybrid (which I own), and the NSX. Bad move. GM EVs in an Acura body? Bad move. Look at Toyota/Lexus with their full line of hybrids and how they’re selling more cars. Why is the Acura ZDX lease so low? It’s because they aren’t selling. Acura needs to get back into the hybrid game. The RLX Hybrid can keep up with the new TLX Type-S and still get better gas mileage… SMH!
