This look is definitely bold and works well with the unique shape of the Almighty toaster
Wow! To be honest I thought it might not turn out well but it looks great. I’ll have to check out other color options for the same look. A few times I’ve passed on buying Elements with the blue trim interior but now, I might be willing to reconsider. You’ve inspired me to spend more money, ha-ha.
@Hollis
Yeah, I’m not a fan of the green either. I’m pretty excited to get started on the exterior now.
I love the different style, it’s definitely unique! Looks awesome
The crackle paint look isn’t really my thing, but it’s cool to see. You’ve inspired me to try a woodgrain effect on the same parts for a winter project.

Sounds cool, post pics when you’re done!
Nice work! Can you share how you finished the dash? I know about the crackle process but I’m curious about the prep and how you sealed it after.

@Sidney
I blacked mine out using interior paint. Same process: scuff with scotchbrite, clean well, then paint with interior paint. It holds up OK for a few years but eventually wears down, especially the parts that get more use. The back ones are doing better.
I didn’t know that bottom trim could come off! Guess it’s time for another trip to the parts yard.
I really like the look! Black interior paint works great for things like the airbag, makes everything look nice and holds up well.

I might have to try that, actually.

If you didn’t know, a Honda Pilot steering wheel from the same era fits perfectly and comes in black leather. It’s a great deal at the parts yard.
@Finn
How hard is it to remove just that piece from the wheel?

Two Torx screws, one on each side. You’ll see them. Pop it out, unclip, mask and paint. If you’re doing the whole wheel, just make sure it’s straight when removing and installing. Don’t forget to reconnect everything properly afterward to avoid issues with the SRS.
@Finn
Looks like my weekend just got a little longer. Thanks.

Haha, sorry (not sorry). I’ve used duplicolor interior paint on several Honda airbags and it sticks really well. It looks great for as long as the car lasts.
How long do you think the finish will last?

With 3 coats of 2k clear, I’d say it should last for the life of the car.
