I love being in a country where someone like me can own a place like this…

Congrats! I wish there was a smaller dealership around me to buy my toys from. Everything has been taken over by one big company and they aren’t good. Young Powersports in Utah, in case anyone knows them. Terrible company.

@Jeffrey
I know. They’re my competition.

Congrats :tada:

How do you feel about the outlook for 2025? Any thoughts on the market?

It’s a bit worrying. The second half of 2024 was one of the slowest I can remember – and I went through 2008 (it was really bad). January has been okay for me – oddly selling a lot of street bikes, not my usual ATV/UTV mix.

Interest rates are down. Politics aside – people seem to be feeling more positive. I’m hopeful 2025 will be decent.

@Howard
I thought about buying a BMW dealership in the early 2010s. They had a nice mix of revenue from bikes, apparel, service, and accessories. The target market was 40-somethings with money and time. It was a stable business.

I spent a lot of time learning about the business, including from my dad’s best friend who owned a Yamaha shop. I came to the conclusion that with enough money and the right staff, it could work. Fast-forward 10 years, and the buyer did really well.

I didn’t have enough money to make it happen, but I’m happy for you .

@Taylor
It’s a challenge, for sure, and it can be a very tight business.

Someone earlier said, I wish I knew how to make a lot of money.

My response was, I do know how to make money, but I chose the motorcycle business haha.

@Howard
I’ve heard similar things. Late 2024 was really slow for everyone I know in the industry. I have friends at OEMs and dealerships and they’re all saying the same thing.

I agree, interest rates are improving, and consumer sentiment is up. Hopefully, you’re right!

I’d still recommend keeping an eye on overhead. Best of luck.

@Gus
Always gotta watch expenses :ok_hand:

@Howard
I’ve been doing this since the early 2010s, and the last half of 2024 was by far the slowest. I manage a service department for a Euro dealer in California.

Vespa riders represent! :slight_smile:

No, it’s a couple of hours north.

Ah okay, looks very similar to Moto United in Draper, where I bought my bikes.

@Dane
Nope, but I know some of those guys.

What’s with the armed services flags?

I’m a vet, and so is my business partner.

Clearly not a Navy vet, because that’s the wrong flag. Haha.
