Got my first Fit… Any tips or advice?

Just picked up an 09 Sport in blue with the 5-speed. Got some miles on it, but it’s been really well taken care of. Anyone else got high-mileage Fits? How are they holding up?

Swap out the radio if you haven’t yet. It makes the interior feel way more modern.

Good call… Any specific model you recommend?

If you’re happy with the factory unit but just want Bluetooth, Crutchfield sells an adapter that’s super easy to install. I got one based on someone’s suggestion here, and it’s the best thing I’ve done for the car.

Here’s the link: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_249BTSHN2/Crux-BTS-HN2-Bluetooth-Interface.html

@Ren
I got a Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the AUX jack. It works great. What’s the difference with the Crutchfield one?

The Crutchfield one is hidden away, and it adds a USB port too. Plus, my AUX was acting up and had bad sound quality, so it was a no-brainer for me.

Definitely agree on the radio upgrade… I also put in a small 8-inch sub for some bass. I got a budget one from Rockville, and it fits right on the spare tire.

@Emile
I swear my Fit’s speakers are surprisingly good… way better than the ones in my old Mazda 3. Does the 09 Sport come with decent speakers, or did the previous owner upgrade mine? I’m thinking about adding a sub from my last car, though.

@Blane
Got a 2010, and the factory speakers are better than any rental I’ve had. They’re not perfect, but definitely solid.

You got the right transmission… good choice.

Nice one! I had an 09 Sport too, but it got wrecked at 191k… Now I’m driving a 2016 base model. Hope yours lasts a good long while.

Thanks! Planning to keep it running as long as I can.

Welcome to the Fit crew… 2nd gen is where it’s at. Mine’s at 220k, just had to replace the alternator and belt, but these cars are easy to work on. You can find a guide or video for pretty much anything. Anyone else wave at other Fits on the road like it’s some secret club?

Welcome to the Fit fam :sunglasses::point_right::point_right:… I’m with everyone saying upgrade the radio first.

First thing I did was put in Android Auto/Apple CarPlay… totally worth it.

Treat her well… and never let a clueless mechanic touch the spark plugs. One messed up mine and it was an $11k fix.

Whoa… how’d they mess it up that bad?

Honestly, I think they used an impact wrench, but they won’t own up to it. I’m considering legal action since it’s only got 130k miles and has been super reliable. I love that car, and it broke my heart when I saw the damage.

I’ve got 180k on my 09 Sport and 137k on my 18 EX… these cars just keep going and are dirt cheap to maintain.

230k on my 2012 5-speed. Had to redo the whole front end, but that was because of rust.
