I’ve never owned a new car before or financed one, but I decided to do it this time. My 2014 Toyota Corolla was causing me lots of problems, especially since I drive a lot for work. The repairs were adding up to $500 a month, which didn’t make sense for a car that’s only losing value. I traded it in and put $2k down on a 2025 Civic Sport Hatch with extra warranties and maintenance. The monthly payment is $530 for six years.
A lot of people keep talking about the hybrid model, and I wanted one too, but it was out of my price range. I test-drove the Civic, but it felt sluggish, especially with the rain. Still, my Corolla would have kept falling apart, and I’d be in an even worse spot soon. I’m paying $500 a month for a new car instead of repairs, so I’m hoping it’ll be worth it.
I still feel a little unsure about the decision. Has anyone here felt the same way when financing a car? Even without the hybrid, do you think I got a good deal with this one?
I’ve definitely been there too. You made a smart choice with the Civic. It’s a reliable car, especially with all the driving you do. Plus, it’s a good move considering the issues you had with the Toyota. The red color looks great too! It’s a stylish and fun car that’ll last you a long time. You’ll feel a lot better knowing you’re driving something dependable.
Totally normal to feel a little unsure after a big purchase like that, whether it’s a car or a house. Everyone goes through some buyer’s remorse. I remember when I bought my first car, I felt nervous even though it was a good decision. Don’t worry, you made the right call. Enjoy the new ride!
Is it the 2.0 engine or the turbo? I’ve had both, and people often want to race me, but it’s pretty slow, especially in a coupe. But it’s fun to drive! If you spend a lot of time in the car like me (about 2 hours a day), I’d recommend getting an aftermarket sound system if you don’t have one already. Tint the windows too for a cooler vibe .

What issues were you having with the Corolla? And how many miles did it have?
It had 150k miles. The door locks were failing all at once, and it was going to cost $600 each to fix the actuators. The struts kept failing too (I think that might have been from the garage I used). I ended up paying $2k in two days just to fix the struts, spark plugs, alternator, and battery. I couldn’t afford all the repairs, and I felt like it was just one thing after another.
It’s a great-looking car! I’ve been driving my 15-year-old red Civic for years now. I’ve had to spend about $300 on repairs in the last 4 years. Civics are reliable and will serve you well.
Beautiful! It’s my favourite car and colour. I own a Civic X. Unfortunately, prices for the XI are crazy here in Italy. They only offer the hybrid version, which costs over $41,000 for the basic trim. People around here mostly buy other brands. I think the Civic is a much better choice for a lot of people, even with the high prices.
Civic, Mazda 3, and Corolla are all great options for long-term reliability. You made a good choice with the Civic. The only thing I’d suggest is looking into some of the higher trims if you want more features.
