Can anyone help me figure out what engine this is? ... Any guesses?

It seems like an early SOHC f22a. The slant where the spark plug wires go suggests this, as d series would be flatter.

This looks like an F22A, probably from an early 90s 4th gen Accord or Prelude. You can clean the front tab gently and that should tell you more.

I agree. This engine looks like the F22A from my 90 Accord. It’s missing the pulley for the balance shaft, among other things.

Edit: Some of you are annoying so I’ll change my comment. My phone keeps going off and it’s irritating. I mentioned it could be a D series, but I’m not an expert on Hondas. I said it in a sarcastic way. Some of you guys are too serious. My bad.

@Tamsin
D series engines have a flatter valve cover though.

The dipstick placement isn’t right for a D series.

@Tamsin
Sorry, but I think you’re mistaken. The F-series flexplate PT290W can’t fit on a D-series crank. The first picture shows the rear, the third is the front.

I’m not familiar with Honda engines. I just made a guess. I was being sarcastic. Sorry about that.

@Tamsin
I’m pretty sure all D-series have 6 flywheel/flexplate bolts. This one has 8, like an F-series.

You’re probably right. I really don’t know Hondas. I was just guessing.

@Tamsin
If you didn’t know, why would you correct someone or even comment on something you don’t know much about?

What’s the point of being rude over something so small? Chill out.

@Tamsin
You’re the one who showed up first with a sarcastic comment, trying to correct someone who actually knew what they were talking about.

Relax, it’s the internet. People are wrong all the time.

@Tamsin
It’s not that you were wrong. It’s how you acted about it. Just admit it and stop blaming everyone else.

I used to work at Honda. In the third picture, you should be able to find the engine code near the head on the block. It looks like an F22. Edit: I mentioned the wrong picture earlier. The engine code is on the left side near the exhaust ports, in pic 3.

@Marcell
Yeah, it says ‘BBB’.

BBB is probably on the starter part. Try looking below that area, at a 90-degree angle. I bet you were looking at it from the wrong side.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned the engine code is usually on the left side near the exhaust ports.
