Best $10 upgrade… how did you improve your car?

A silicone plate frame and some black allen screws really freshened up the look. Say goodbye to the dealer frame and hatch noises/scratches. Highly recommend it.

Honestly, I almost forgot this was one of the first mods I did. It’s one of those things that doesn’t get much attention but is such a simple upgrade. Less noise, better for the paint over time, and it just looks cleaner.

@Sunny
Got the car 2 weeks ago, so same here, it was the first thing I did. I’m now working on getting a good deal on tint and my black emblems are on the way.

My black H emblems will complete the look soon. Deleting the civic and sport touring badges. It’s been a while since I’ve had a new car, and I’m still impressed by how genius a silicone plate holder is. Definitely the best option for me.

@Flynn
Is that a small paint nick I see?

Nice! Can you link the black Allen screws? I’ve ordered 3 from Amazon and all of them were the wrong size.

I specifically got these because it comes with 4 long and 4 short screws, so I knew there was a chance I’d get the right size. Got lucky this time.

Why the cover? Just for easier cleaning?

To protect it. I just bought a '22, and the only issue is a small tear on the corner. I’m planning to patch it, but the cover helps prevent further damage. The fit is so good you can’t even tell it’s there.

@Paris
I wasn’t sure if that was a high wear spot or just tended to get dirty. I haven’t noticed it on mine, but I’m considering one now.

@Paris
Oh no! Can I see the tear?

For me, it’s more of a peace of mind. I know I’m not wearing down the fabric in the middle. It fits perfectly, and you wouldn’t even know it’s not the original.

@Paris
Did you end up using the short or long screws?

Definitely the long ones. The short ones couldn’t grab the threads, and the plate frame is really thin.

First mod I did too, but mine wraps around.

What’s a wrap around? I’m new here.
