Are Hondas still reliable really?
I work for a Honda dealership and routinely see older models with 200-300,000 miles. Those people have typically done all their maintenance on time and recommended repairs.
Off the top of my head, the one year and model I would never personally purchase is a 2018 Accord (or neighboring years), particularly a 1.5L. Any time one of these comes in with a check engine light on, I know they have a blown head gasket. And this happens at least once a month to me personally, just at my dealership.
My local mechanic keeps telling me…“No car is the same as it used to be, not even Honda and Toyota”.
Pretty much every car has a turbo these days, reliability has suffered for everyone.
But generally yes.
I have a 2008 Acura TSX (not a lot of people know but the car is 100% made in Japan), almost to 300k, original motor and transmission. Never missed maintenance and still working. Sure it looks a little rough but will be driving it until it decides to die, not having car payments is a win. But I can’t speak for the newer generation.
Driven accords for 25 years. Great, great cars. Now have a TLX and it’s even better.
Nope not anymore. Had a civic all my life and they were unkillable.
Bought a 2024 civic and its engine has died twice now within 1500km. Once after they completely replaced the entire thing. Of course the dealer and manufacturer have been a huge pain to deal with. You’d think they would just replace it if this was as uncommon as they claim. But they seem to be okay with blowing thousands on giving me rental cars while they give me the run around.
After owning nothing but Hondas (prelude, 2 civics, 2 FITs and an HRV) I crossed over to the dark side and got a Lexus UX250h. Zero regrets.
not as reliable as they used to be but still more reliable than most other brands.
I agree. I have a 2019 Touring model with the 2.0T engine as my daily driver. It’s a great car, and I haven’t had any issues since buying it new. However, I really wish it came with a V6 engine.
