I’ve been dealing with issues for months now and the dealership is asking for crazy amounts to fix it. Anyone have advice or a similar story?
Sometimes cars go into limp mode and all the lights come on, but it’s not always as serious as it looks.

This has been happening on and off for 3 months… already spent over $1,000 trying to fix it.
The dealership where I bought it new quoted me $20k to fix it. I just laughed.
@Lee
20k? For a Civic? Either they’re messing with you or don’t want to deal with it. I used to work for Honda and nothing on that car costs anywhere near that. Even replacing the engine and a bunch of other stuff would cap out at $6k. Sounds like they gave you a ‘go away’ quote.
@Tavi
Nope, I heard them right. They said $20k to replace the engine.
@Tavi
I told them to forget it and just bought an SUV. Now I’ve got two cars.
@Lee
What could even cost $20k on a Civic?
They said it was to rebuild the engine. They’re out of their minds.
Could be the battery or a cable issue. Have you tried getting it checked out?

I wish it was that simple. I’ll bring it to AutoZone to get it checked out though.
@Ty
I’ll get it scanned tomorrow. Last time, the dealership charged me $800 for nothing and then quoted me $20k. It’s a joke.
Check your power and ground connections.

Loose ground wires were my first thought too.
What exactly are they planning to do for $20k?

Probably just give him a new car at that price. But seriously, what’s their explanation?
How many miles are on it?

160,000.
What did the dealership actually do? My guess is spark plugs, fuel injectors, or maybe the head gasket. Limp mode usually means misfires.

I’ll find the receipt and share it. Should’ve done that earlier, sorry.
Get the error codes scanned. Also, check your power and ground cables with a multimeter if nothing seems off mechanically.
