Anyone else getting excited thinking they might finally make a V8 sports car?

I was so hopeful for a moment that they’d make a V8 sports car. Anyone else feel the same?

With them trying to buy Nissan, the chance of Honda releasing a V8 car is probably as low as 0.09%. Not happening anytime soon.

I’d love to see it in my Xterra.

If you want power, try the VK56 engine. It’s a beast and has some aftermarket support.

@Reilly
That would work great if I had a second-gen model.

Well, if that’s the case, you could go with an LS swap. No wiring, just a manual transmission with some serious power. A 4.8L or 5.3L would do well for mileage if you’re not driving like crazy.

@Reilly
Yeah, maybe one day. But I gotta LS swap my Jeep first.

Doesn’t the Odyssey have a V8? Or am I thinking of a different van?

@Darian
The Odyssey has a V6. I don’t think any minivans came with a V8. Some GMC and Chevy vans might have had V8s though.

Honda wouldn’t make a V8 sports car. If they ever did, it would most likely be in a truck.

It’s a real shame. They were actually planning to release a Honda V10 supercar called the Honda HSV V10 back in 2009, but the market crash stopped that. It was going to replace the NSX.

@Adi
I’m still hoping they’ll do something with the Z/GTR stuff eventually.

That would be awesome. Toyota’s making a 400-600hp 4-cylinder for the upcoming MR2, so Honda has some serious competition. A collaboration with Nissan for the R35 would be crazy.

@Adi
I’ll believe the MR2 when I see it.

@Adi
That would be the R36 if they did that.

@Adi
Honda doesn’t seem to care about high horsepower much though.

Isn’t 573hp enough for you?

Sure, but the NSX is still the only Honda with any real horsepower. The Type R has had just over 300hp since the FK2. I think if the Type R name is that legendary, it should perform better.

@Gabi
It’s not that bad. People are swapping K engines into NSXs and getting better performance. It’s not stock, but you can push up to 700-800whp from a K engine without much trouble.
