Driving without tint on a sunny day feels like you’re in a fishbowl. Anyone else feel the same?
I hate driving without tint, but my dad always said it’s safer to avoid it. You need clear visibility, especially at crossings or when figuring out who has the right of way.

I feel like some tint could actually make things better. I don’t have it on my Fit, but sometimes the sun glare gets unbearable.

And the sun can give you cancer too, so yeah…
@Fintan
Actually, untreated glass blocks most UV rays. Tint is great for heat and privacy but doesn’t make much difference with UV protection. Modern cars often have UV-blocking coatings anyway. That said, I get why people like tint, but extra visibility at night can be a lifesaver in situations where you’re adjusting to headlight glare.
@Rene
Do you think sunscreen is still necessary while driving?

Always use sunscreen. You’re not totally safe even behind glass.

I’m the type who wears SPF every day. Sun damage is no joke.
@Fintan
Same here, SPF 50 even when I’m staying home.

I use SPF 30 daily but switch to 50 for outdoor trips. My skin burns so easily.

Most newer cars have UV protection in their glass. If your car doesn’t, you can always add a clear UV-blocking film for extra safety.
Sitting in my partner’s Fit right now and wow… it’s like being in a fish tank. No tint at all.
My buddy once put 5% tint on his car. He had to roll down the windows at night because he couldn’t see a thing.

I’ve seen people literally spray-paint their windows black from the inside. Completely useless for driving but looks shiny from the outside.
35% ceramic tint on all windows made my Fit so much cooler. It’s like a portable sauna without it.
Tints were one of the best upgrades I made to my car.
I tinted both my Fits the same day I got them.

Did you do it yourself? What kind of tint did you use?

No, I had it professionally done. Went with ceramic tint, including the windshield strip, for about $400.
Living in the Southwest without tint or AC… it’s like being roasted alive in my car.
