'23 CRV Hybrid... Regretful purchase?

Hey everyone! I got a brand new 2023 CRV Hybrid Sport last May for $32k. I’ve already hit 32,600 miles and have an oil change appointment tomorrow, which made me start thinking. Anyone here ever regret their purchase? I drive a lot, around 82 miles a day for my commute, and now I’m kind of wishing I had waited for the Hybrid Sport-L. I’ve always driven Hondas (had a 2006 Element and a 2018 Accord), so I’m pretty loyal to the brand. But I really wanted leather seats, and I didn’t pull the trigger on the higher trim, which was over $40k at the time. Now that the Hybrid Sport-L is available, do you think it’s worth trading up?

I totally get that. I was thinking about getting the Accord Touring, but I just couldn’t justify paying $40k for a car that would mostly sit in the garage. I’m happy with my 2022 Accord Sport Hybrid, even though I do wish it had more features. But honestly, I think the 2.0 hybrid platform in Honda’s hybrids is way better than the 1.5 turbo. You get better gas mileage, better acceleration, and it’s more reliable. Just my two cents.

@Taylor
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I’m averaging 43 mpg, and I’m really happy with it. I didn’t expect to get that much. I traded in my 2018 Accord last year with 90k miles and got a pretty good value for it. I keep thinking maybe I should trade before the car loses too much value, but I put so many miles on the car, I’m starting to think I don’t want to constantly be trading cars. Still, a few extra bells and whistles would be nice.

I know how you feel. I have a Pilot and got the EX-L trim, but sometimes I wish I spent a bit more for the Touring or Trailsport.

Man, I don’t know if I’ll ever drive anything but my 2016 Civic. These prices are insane!

The Hybrid Sport-L has been available since launch, you know.

Actually, no, it hasn’t. If it had, I would have gone for that one. I was in a similar situation where only the Sport and Touring hybrids were available. I ended up getting an Odyssey instead because the Touring price was crazy, so we just sped up our plan to get a minivan. We ended up paying just $2k more than what we would have for a Touring Odyssey.

@Erick
Okay, but how do you like your Odyssey? I’m weird, but I can’t wait until I have a reason to need a minivan! :sweat_smile:

I like it. It’s super practical with two kids and two dogs. But it’s kind of boring, honestly. It feels very similar to our 2017 Pilot because both are from the same generation. My parents had a 2006 Odyssey, and the 2023 feels like a super updated version of that one, for better or worse. It replaced our 2012 CRV, but I just couldn’t justify paying nearly as much for a CRV when I could get a minivan.

@Erick
I think that’s how I feel about my CRV too. It’s just kind of boring. I might start looking at Toyota next time.

I’m thinking a Camry might be next for me, but I’ve got a bit of time before I need to decide.

It actually became available in June 2023, but I bought mine in May 2023. I was really excited to get one with blind spot assist, especially because of the stupid chip shortage at the time.
