Honda recently shared info on their 2027 0-series Saloon and SUV EVs. They’re aiming for sleek, aerodynamic bodywork, but are these designs something we’ll want to drive? What do you think of the new prototypes?
Is the battery confirmed to be lithium, not solid state?

Honda confirmed they’ll be using a thin lithium-ion battery with a target range of around 300 miles on the EPA rating.
@Korbin
Are you sure this applies to the 0-series? This sounds like it might be for the Afeela, but I’m not sure.

No car manufacturers have solid-state batteries ready for mass production yet.

Yeah, I get that. But do you think the battery tech will be ready by 2026 when this is expected to go on sale? It seems like Honda is aiming for that with their plans. Based on their statement, the plan is to research and advance battery tech and apply solid-state batteries to models in the late 2020s.

Solid-state batteries are lithium too, just in a solid form instead of liquid.

Actually, lithium-ion batteries use a gel-like electrolyte, not a solid one.
Honda showed off two prototypes for the 0-series EVs at CES 2025. The 0 SUV has a smooth design and will enter production in 2026. The 0 Saloon is a more refined version of the concept shown in CES 2024 and will be released in late 2026. What do you think about them?
@Korbin
Nice to see the Saloon has regular doors instead of last year’s gull-wings. Is the back seat still for two people? Does that mean it can seat four people total?

Yes, the seating capacity is four in total.
@Korbin
Aw, too bad. At least now I don’t have to worry about the price.

The Afeela is expected to start around $88k, so this will probably be a premium vehicle too.
Man, those are ugly.
These are just mockups. It needs some real-world upgrades like:
- A bumper that works for insurance
- Turn signals
- Side mirrors
- Door handles
- A steering wheel
- Cup holders
- Front plate holders
- Seat belts
- Sun visors
I don’t need a car that looks futuristic, just make it functional. Let me have some physical buttons I can use without taking my eyes off the road.
