2008 Honda Accord

I just bought a 2008 Accord with 178,000 km. I’ve read online that the brakes are faulty and need to be fixed every 25,000 km. Is this true? Is there anything else I should watch out for?

I’ve heard there are transmission problems. Maybe change the fluid if you can.

We have an '08 with 250,000 miles, and it’s still running strong. These cars can last 500,000 miles… But the '08 4-cylinder tends to burn oil.

At that mileage, they tend to use a bit of oil. Is it the J35 or K24 engine? Besides that and some occasional transmission issues, regular maintenance should keep it running for a long time. Good luck!

Which one do you have? 2008 was a crossover year between the 7th and 8th gen. If it’s a 7th gen, it’s very reliable. I have a 2008 7th gen with 115,000 miles, and it’s been great in the 4+ years I’ve owned it. I also had a 2005 7th gen before this.

I’ve never had a major repair, just regular wear and tear like a power steering hose and the AC compressor clutch on the 2005. Brakes, bearings, and other normal stuff are expected.

If it’s an 8th gen, new models often have some early problems, but they usually get fixed after a year or two with a refresh.

I have a 2008 with 150k. Have had it for 3 years . No brake problems, oil consumption, or transmission issues.

It’s more reliable than 95% of the vehicles from this model year. Maintain it according to the owners manual and do any catch up maintenance if you’re not sure if it’s been done. You’ll be fine.
